Nate Cole highlights goals and focuses for BG Basketball
The BG basketball season has quickly begun. As the team prepares for their upcoming games, they are ready to compete and work together on improving different skills. According to senior Nate Cole, the team’s goals are to make the playoffs and to have an enjoyable season.
Cole also mentioned that the team has changed a lot from last year. The roster features many new players, and the tempo of play has changed dramatically, according to Cole.
“I think that we are really playing with good pace, something we did well towards the end of last season and are continuing this year,” Cole said.
The team has accomplished many of their personal goals, including big wins against Grayslake Central, Uplift and Zion Benton. They beat Grayslake Central 50-47, and the top scorers were junior Kam Craft with 17 points and Cole with 13.
The roster, comprised of several juniors, has high hopes for the season. Despite their short stature and young age, the team has experience with both highs and lows. After starting strong, the team has strong expectations to finish this year.
“Some challenges have been adjusting on defense against teams with a taller line-up,” Cole said.
To continue their season, the team will continue to change their attitude towards facing difficult opponents. They will also work to mark their successes as they face a long season ahead.
“Honestly, our biggest success so far is just getting better every day and working to improve the team,” Cole said.
As the season continues, the team will face lots of notable opponents, in the conference and out of it. Rivals like Wheeling and Hoffman Estates have gotten off to strong starts, and the team will work to counter them.
“There are no easy games, but we will do our best to compete [in] all of them,” Cole said.
As expectations grow, the team works to meet them. The seniors on the team will work to grow their legacies at BG as they work on their final campaign together.
“I look forward to a fun senior year with my teammates, and I hope that we can compete in the playoffs,” Cole said.
